Thank you Kelly for this lovely comment. The best thing I can hear back about a review is that a reader is moved enough to read or reread the book!

Hello John,

I read Le Guine's Late of Heaven when I was very young and was absolutely astounded by it. I read it again only a year later. This was decades ago and in truth, I had forgotten about it until I ran across your post just now.

You presented your material beautifully and I have thoroughly enjoyed revisiting the book through your description. I plan to order a used copy to read again.

Thank you for such a lovely revisit to a phenomenal work of literary brilliance by a suburb author. Your writing is wonderful.

I read The Lathe of Heaven decades ago and thought it was , well, just OK. Glancing through my GR friends reviews, I see a fair number of 3-star reviews, of the same sort. So. Not on the reread list. But a great title!

Thanks for the comment. I know this novel is often under-rated, but I still think it has much more depth and power than it’s given credit for. Each of her books is really unique, and some of them take a second reading to really get into. I admit I don’t always look for the same kinds of things in science fiction that others do. Everyone to their own!
